- Taiwan has had freedom of religion since the country was established. Taiwan's religion is Chinese culture. Freedom of religion is inscribed in the constitution of the Republic in China. In 2005, 35% of the people in Taiwan are Buddhist. About another 1/3 are Taoism, and the other 1/3 has a lot of different religions.
